Greg is an amazing Healer, a Counsellor, a Mentor, and a humanist who is also gifted with a great understanding of how people’s mind work.

Greg, you have more than 20 years experience in the field of mentoring and counselling. Please tell us a little more on how your healing skills developed.

I started on this journey with my first job after college teaching blind children. They taught me the power of listening, I watched these young people overcome significant challenges by the extension of their senses. They could hear so many things that I decided to really learn to listen. After 20 years working with people I still feel that listening to others and to your inner self is the greatest asset one can develop. The capacity to listen vastly extends your intuitive skills. To trust your intuition in the midst of our complex lives is often an essential in determining the directions that we need to take. From that first teaching experience I had a couple of youth work positions and did some formal counselling training. At about that time I travelled to India and that experience opened my heart and eyes to the spiritual world. This was a time of great expansion and also great challenge. The world as I knew it was gone and I had to renegotiate all that I knew and re-find myself. On reflection I now feel that this was similar to the Shamans journey, where who you are is stripped away and from the raw stuff that you are made of, you must find your path.

Can you tell us a little bit about the type of modalities you offer?

I am a bit of a smorgasbord really. I combine traditional counselling, as I said before, this really means listening, with an intuitive process of discerning the true path or soul learning. I use a deck of cards called the OH Cards to assist this process. These card are most useful in identifying what is happening in your unconscious and from this we build a picture of the issues, or challenge that is presenting. Once we get a handle on this and bring some clarity into the situation I will most often do some energetic work to energize or to anchor in the learning.

Can you tell us what direct benefits you think your clients get from your sessions?

To be clear about your learning in life and know the path that is yours to take I think is a great gift. When i have been privileged enough to experience my soul direction there is just a real sense of joy, peace or acceptance. I think that one of the benefits gained in the work that we do together is to sort through the dross, to help eliminate what does not serve and to open a pathway. While this won’t answer all questions it does serves to build confidence to take the next few steps.

You’ve successfully assisted many people in the past few years. What do you think are the most common issues (if any) your clients consult you for and in your opinion what do these ailments mean to you with regard to the world, society and time we’re living now?

The top four would be relationship, , sexuality, direction and in this particular environment manifestation, relationship clearly taking the lead. We are always in relationship of some kind, partners, children, parents, in-laws, boss, employees, old friends, new friends. Navigating this field of learning is often fraught with many challenges, often pain and sometimes deep and seemingly unmovable suffering. In regards to the world we live in, as I have indicated our society is no longer simple, complex relationships requiring lots of energy and mindfulness are far more common these days. The rules of relationship are not based on the simple nuclear family. In fact in lots of cases the rules are not known and we have to make it up as we go along. The demand for communication is higher and the time and space is less. It is highly likely tht each person will have more than one long term significant relationship and will need to negotiate separation, extended families and divided incomes and assets. We do not anticipate or prepare for this in the romantic years of out 20’s or 30’s but statistically it is most likely that it will happen.
That is not to say that this is all bad for it is not. We are blessed, particularly in this culture with an incredible depth and variety of interests and experiences that are available to us. There is a freedom and capacity to broaden our personal horizons and to take on lifestyle choices, personal and spiritual development and explore relationship choices that have a truer meaning. This is the balance and the cycle of life, challenge, learning, expansion, expression.

You mentioned manifestation in the top four issues, why is this?

I often see people putting enormous pressure on themselves in the belief that they “SHOULD” be able to manifest the next level of wealth, happiness or significant experience,This is a particularly tricky paradox because at the soul level simplicity always rings with truth and power. The simplicity of self acceptance, and self worth, of kindness, of giving and receiving in balance, of saying yes when you need to and saying no when it serves you. These are the greatest things to manifest and yet we confuse this with manifesting from our desire not our greatest good. For centuries desire has been the trickiest quality to discern on the spiritual path and these days there is often an imperative to manifest more. I think there is some great resources and some fantastic insight into our journey of co-creation with spirit. It would just release a lot of anxiety from people if they felt that they only had to manifest more sometimes.

Can you tell us about the most incredible or rewarding mentoring or healing session you have been part of?

It is some time ago now but I had been working with a woman with cancer. We had done a lot of childhood healing and worked through significant family patterns. In the session we were doing quite a simple visualization, when she went very still, the room was literally filled with silence, about 20 minutes later she emerged from the meditation knowing that she had turned her cancer around. What was really great was knowing that she had done the work and that in the silence of her deepest self her healing and her path forward emerged. 15 years later she is still alive and well.

Greg practices at the Byron Medicine Wheel and can also offer sessions on Skype.

Are you having difficulty sleeping at night?
Are you moving, selling or buying a house or business and things are not happening for you?

Then this is a great time to clear out unwanted spirits and energies so you can free yourself and move forward with your life.

The first thing Dean does is tune into the property and land to get a feeling as to what is happening there. He then communicates with the high vibrational spirits of the land so they too are there to help.

By working with the high vibrational spirits he is able to remove unwanted lower vibrational spirits and energies that are causing the problems you are experiencing.

It is also important for him to clear the land below the structures or buildings so that there is a continuous flow of positive high vibrational energy.

Once this is done a peaceful loving energy flows up from the earth protecting all that is above. It is this space that we as humans can relax and grow.

As with all his healings the spirits often want to communicate what is happening or what has happened on the land and this helps with the cleansing process. Dean is happy to communicate this to you.

Often he is approached by businesses to clear their work spaces as their businesses are stuck and are not growing or meeting their potential. The same procedure is used so that the businesses full potential can be realised with ease and grace.

It is important to not only keep our selves clear and vibrant but also our environment as well so we can always be Our True High Vibrational Selves.

Salvia hispanica, known as chia, is a species native to central and southern Mexico and Guatemala. It is grown in Mexico, Bolivia, Ecuador, Australia and Guatemala. In 2008, Australia was the world’s largest producer of chia.

“Chia” is the Mayan word for strength.

Chia seeds contain large amounts of B vitamins and calcium and provide many health benefits.

From Skyhorse Publishing “The Chia Seed COOKBOOK”

Interesting to know…

The chia plant produces an oil in the stems and leaves that insects and other pests can’t stand. When the plant itself is safely and naturally repelling pests, there’s no need to use pesticides. Since chia grows in hot, sandy, dry, and poor soil, it doesn’t compete with other crops.

The main benefits of chia seeds are:

Help lose weight without starving,

Balance blood sugar,

Help prevent diverticulitis/diverticulosis,

Add healthy omega-3 oil to your diet,

Feel more energized all day long,

Add age-defying anti-oxidants

“The Chia Seed COOKBOOK” gives you super yummy recipes for breakfasts, appetizers, snacks, main dishes, sandwiches, desserts, and beverages.

You can purchase “The Chia Seed COOK BOOK” at the Byron Medicine Wheel.

A surprise bestseller has emerged at the Byron Medicine Wheel, with a range of Himalayan salt bath soaks from a Byron Bay based
artisan all but flying out of our store! It’s easy to see why these are proving so popular.

Himalayan salt is well known for its health properties, as it contains 84 of the 92 trace elements and minerals naturally occurring in the earth. Unlike common table salt, Himalayan crystal salt hasn’t been processed and can aid in the removal of toxins and impurities from the body. These benefits are captured in the luxurious bath soak range.

Let’s take a closer look at those amazing salt bath.

Skin Soothe soak is pure salt and gives you a personal spa experience at home.

Muscle Magic combines Magnesium Sulphate (aka. epsom salts) with the salt, aiding the recovery of tired or overworked muscles.

De-Stress combines salt with magnesium sulphate and relaxing essential oils – Rosewood, Bergamot, Patchouli, Frankincense, Geranium, Lavender and Ylang Ylang.

Revitalise is the same, but includes a more stimulating oil blend – Bergamot, Sandalwood, Rose Geranium, Frankincense, Lavender, Lime, Orange, Lemon and Veviter.

It’s certainly a tempting selection, especially with the Autumn weather approaching. The only problem for many Medicine Wheel visitors is deciding which one to buy first.

Prices

200 gr = $9.95
600 gr = $14.95

Ayurvedic Medicine (also called Ayurveda) originated in India and, being around 5,000 years old, is one of the world’s oldest medical systems. Many of the practices are so old they were handed down by word of mouth long before the oldest known texts, now 2,000 years old, were written in Sanskrit.

Today, Ayurvedic Medicine is increasingly practiced around the world. In India, nearly 80% of the population use it, either alone or in combination with western approaches.

The Ayurvedic system uses a range of techniques and medicines to restore balance to the body, aiming to resolve the root cause rather than the symptoms of the physical ailment. It promotes wellness by integrating the body, mind and spirit.

The treatments and self-help regimens can include any of the following: herbal remedies, a tailored and balanced diet, aromatherapy, massage, colour and sound therapy, detoxification, yoga and rejuvenation therapies.

This non-invasive approach has proven successful in relieving a wide range of physical and mental ailments, as it very much supports the individual in their lifestyle and wellness choices. Ayu means life and Veda means knowledge, and this explains why Ayurveda is so often referred to as the ‘Science of Life’.

Can you spot the missing word in these recipe titles?

Citrus Scallops and _ Veggie Stir Fry. Southwest _ Bean Burgers. Sunny Sweet Potato and Chocolate Chip _ Muffins. Gluten-Free Peanut Butter _ Cookies.

Feeling hungry yet? Now that you’re imagining mouth-watering food, I’ll tell you: it’s chia. If you’re already a devotee of this amazing seed, the recipes probably just grew even more appetising. And if you only know a little about this phenomenal food source, here’s a quick summary of why it’s so good.

All about chia

Chia is a relative of the mint plant and is grown in Mexico, Bolivia, Ecuador, Australia and Guatemala. It produces an oil in its stems and leaves that repels pests, meaning it can be grown without the use of pesticides. Its gluten-free seeds are known to have dozens of health-enhancing properties too. Full of antioxidants and fibre, they help to balance blood sugar, prevent diseases such as diverticulitis and diverticulosis, and contain the essential fatty acid omega-3, which lowers hypertension and benefits your heart. It contains large amounts of B vitamins and calcium. It’s hardly surprising that Chia is the Mayan word for strength!

Cooking with chia

The Chia Seed Cookbook, from Skyhorse Publishing and available at the Medicine Wheel, contains over 100 wonderful recipes, including those above. You can learn how to include chia in your cooking for breakfasts, appetisers, snacks, main dishes, sandwiches, desserts and drinks. Using the seeds in cooking is easy: when you combine them with water, they can be used as a replacement for butter or oil. They take on the flavour of whatever ingredients they’re mixed with, so can only enhance the results of your baking.

So, there are many good reasons to add chia to our diet. There are just as many if not more reasons to eliminate a lot of sugar. Do you know that our children consume 28% more sugar than they did only 16 years ago? That’s truly frightening.

Getting our kids off sugar

In the book Beat Sugar Addiction Now! for Kids, physician Jacob Teitelbaum MD and paediatric nutritionist Deborah Kennedy outline studies that reveal children who eat a diet high in sugar are more at risk of many conditions, including attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, anxiety and depression, chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia, decreased immune function, irritable bowel syndrome and diabetes. At the lower end of the scale, you can include dental cavities, and chronic sinusitis and ear infections.

Worried? We should be! Even mainstays of diets are awash with sugar – for instance, sugary cereals, flavoured milks, juice drinks and burgers. Then there are the obvious sources, such as cookies and lollies.

Removal of sugar can lead to withdrawal-like symptoms and behaviours. Beat Sugar Addiction Now! for Kids gives you a proven 5-step, day-to-day plan for getting and keeping your child off sugar. It’s a tool to help you avoid common pitfalls such as feeling guilt and being on the receiving end of tantrums, while getting your child emotionally as well as physically unhooked from sweet and ‘hidden sugar’ foods. (Note: there’s a ‘grown-up’ version of this book too.)

The Chia Seed Cookbook and Beat Sugar Addiction Now! for Kids are both available at the Byron Medicine Wheel.

Plus:

Did you know we have eight qualified massage therapists working at the Byron Medicine Wheel? No matter what your preference when it comes to massage, you can probably find a practitioner to meet your needs. Next time you’re in Byron Bay and looking for a massage for relaxation or pain-relief, or both, drop into the Medicine Wheel.

The last thing people who love Byron want is manufactured and soulless products. As that’s just the way we feel, we’ve made sure that everything in the Medicine Wheel’s store has something special – and something spiritual – to say. Look at the new items we’ve just brought in…

First, we have some beautiful natural art in the form of wall hangings made from driftwood, shells and crystals (above). Can you imagine these in your space? And elsewhere in your place, some original dream catchers made with leather and lace, rare feathers and crystals?

To complete your select interior, we have Byron Bay hand-poured candles. Made of natural soy wax, these come in such enticing fragrances as gardenia, coconut, cinnamon and frangipani. Beautiful to look at, with a gorgeous scent to match.

And how about buying wisely with some designed items, including purses, bags and wallets?

Not so much recycled as ‘upcycled’, these are made from materials re-formed into functional and stylish personal accessories. (If you’ve not spotted it, these were tyre tubes in a former life – amazing!)

Finally, something rather unique: clay necklaces featuring the sacred geometry of crop circles. Artist Diane connects to the clay with Reiki, opens her creativity and grounds to mother earth. She then listens to the clay and allows her hands to do the rest. The sacred geometry radiates divine energy…

Call in to Byron Medicine Wheel to indulge in more meaningful products made with love and care. We’re open every day of the week, from 10am to 5pm.

Book a session with one of our Psychic readers on Skype or over the phone and your reader will be ready at the appointed time to answer your questions.
